Building in the open.

This site is now public. Before anything else, a plain note on what Sential Innovations is, what it is not, and how to read the rest of these pages.

July 6, 2026

Sential Innovations is the technology division of Sential, an independent community, not a registered company. We build AI models, software, and hardware, and we have decided to do it in the open, where anyone can see the real state of the work rather than a polished version of it.

What we are, plainly

Sential, Sential Innovations, and Palladium are names for one volunteer community. There is no corporate or legal entity behind them yet, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. That shapes what we do and do not do: we do not sell anything, we do not run paid services or public APIs, and we make no warranties. Everything here is released for free, as-is, by people building because they want to.

How to read this site

Every model and product carries an honest status label, and we mean them literally:

  • Concept: notes and plans only. No code, no training, no timeline. Arcus, Deriva, and Nero are here.
  • In development: actually being worked on right now. Only Hikaru-1 holds this label, and it is early.
  • Coming soon / in planning: intended, but not started or not finished. Kova and the Verplex glasses sit here.

If something is a placeholder image or an unfinished page, we label it as such. Nothing on this site is meant to suggest more than is really there.

What we are actually working on

The concrete work today is Hikaru-1, a finetune of IBM Granite 4.1 (8B) trained with our research method, Explanatory Reinforcement Learning. It exists to test one question: does a model taught with graded, explained feedback behave measurably differently from one taught with a plain binary reward? You can read the ERL overview or the development announcement for the detail.

Following along

We post here when there is something concrete to say, not on a schedule. The fastest way to catch updates is this news page or our social accounts, linked in the footer of every page. If you want to reach us, our contact details are on the About page.

That is the whole pitch: small, honest, and open. If any of that changes, if we ever become a real company or offer something paid, we will say so here, clearly, first.
